Cape Town Culinary Tours

Marco’s African Place

Experience a unique culinary adventure at Marco’s African Place, a vibrant hub of African culture and cuisine in the historic Bo-Kaap district of Cape Town. Since its opening in 1997 by Marco Radebe, South Africa’s first black restaurateur, this restaurant has been a popular destination for both locals and international guests. Marco’s offers an eclectic menu that includes traditional Xhosa dishes, exotic game like crocodile and impala, and signature offerings such as the Pan African Platter featuring springbok, kudu, and ostrich.

Housed in a converted warehouse with rustic colors and earthy African prints, the restaurant’s atmosphere is further enhanced by daily live music ranging from local bands to African jazz. The vast space includes a stage and dance floor, making it perfect for an evening of entertainment. The bar area, complete with a fireplace, is a cozy retreat in winter, offering a wide selection of local wines, home-brewed African beer, and other spirits.
